This is one of the most beautiful stories of Rio sport. By the mid-1950s, the Bangu decided to run the tests of swimming-RJ state championship. The opponents did not take it seriously, thinking that those boys and suburban girls do not know how to swim right. After all, they lived from the sea and in Bangu, there was only one pool, the club built for coach Paul Light work that Patotinha.
And it was not that surprised banguenses major Rio clubs? They became state two-time champions juvenile, winning eight races, against three of the second set. What's more, they walked close to beating several records in the category. To # 19 of the magazine "Headline Sports," which circulated in March 1956, it was "done most notable of our sporting life in recent times."
